The Poison Belt, a science fiction novel by Arthur Conan Doyle (1859—1930) from the Professor Challenger series, is a continuation of the novel The Lost World. Professor Challenger announces a new discovery: the Earth is threatened with an imminent disaster! Which actually happens: people are falling as dead. However, it turns out that people have not really died but they have only fallen into a deep sleep and do not remember anything. At the same time, there happens a noticeable shift in time.
